Times are getting crazy y’all! If you don’t believe me, scroll through your favorite social media platform OR open your favorite news app/website. The world is becoming more divided, confused, and hostile, and on top of all that, the lack of value in human life is growing exponentially! And the sad part is, as the world plunges farther down the immoral and unethical rabbit hole…it’s sucking tons of good men and women down with it.
Social media, for many is becoming a huge time suck (talking to myself here too y’all), and it’s drawing a lot of us away from the person God needs us to be and closer to the person Satan wants us to be. I can’t tell you how many times over the past few months that I’ve: A) found myself in a state of anger because of something I read or saw; B) come to a realization that I’ve been scrolling aimlessly for hours; or C) been slammed by ads and posts that not only don’t relate to me, but push an agenda I have no interest in!
In an effort to focus less on the distractions of the world and spend more time focusing on God’s plan for me and my family, I have decided to take a much needed sabbatical from social media and news platforms. I’ve got roughly 7 weeks left on the #75hard program…which I’m using to (with God’s help) reset my mental and physical self (return to who I was when God was center of my universe…not worldly ambitions). I’m going to use these 7 weeks to unplug from all social media and news sites.
I will still make my (or try to make my) daily updates on how 75 Hard is going…but it will be uploads only…no interaction with the platforms. I’ve already removed my apps from my phone, and I’ve turned off notifications…so no distractions to be had! The main reason for not totally unplugging is Y’ALL. I’ve had many of you say that my daily updates are an inspiration to you…so, with encouragement from my wife, I’ve chosen to continue to upload my updates. In all honesty, y’all are encouraging me more than I’m inspiring y’all!
I can’t wait to see what God does over the next 7 weeks. Then I’ll hop back (not sure for how long) onto the Facebooks, Instagrams, and Twitters to see what God is doing in y’all’s lives and catch up once my sabbatical is complete. Until then, feel free to touch base here on this blog as we talk God, family, and fitness. At the end of the day, I realize that I can’t produce the energy to complete the 75 Hard Program…but God can! AND…y’all’s encouragement greatly helps!
Blessings,
~Mitch
