Podcasts For Men

A huge part of my pivot from a less productive lifestyle to a more “serving through the love of Christ” lifestyle has been the pursuit of knowledge as it relates to the true identity of men which is found in Christ Jesus. Jarrett Samuels is a pastor and champion for men around the world. His encouragement and biblical lessons are ideal for any man who is trying to figure out his purpose in God’s great big plan.

Podcast Description: “Vigorously Equipping Men to Pursue Biblical Manliness”

THE PURSUIT OF MANLINESS WEBSITE

I truly believe that the identity of men, and our purpose in this world is slowly…and intentionally…being stripped away. Why is this happening? I have no clue. So it is imperative that men everywhere cultivate and protect the true meaning of what it is to be a man. Ryan is intent on seeking out people to interview who have a unique perspective on manliness and he encourages his listeners to be manly pillars in the home, the community, and around the world.

Podcast Description: “We are reclaiming what it means to be a man. Each week we interview the world’s most successful men on the planet – elite athletes, warriors, New York Times Bestselling Authors, and world-class entrepreneurs – extract their hard-fought lessons and experiences and deliver them straight to you. Past guests include Jocko Willink, Tim Kennedy, Andy Frisella, Lewis Howes, Grant Cardone, Ryan Holiday, Ben Greenfield, Rich Roll, and so many more. If you’re ready to level up your life as a man, this is the show for you.”

From getting healthy to building and cultivating relationships, Brett strive to help men learn as much as they can about what it means to be a real man. Whether you’re wanting to know how to build better character or how to build a cabin in the woods, The Art of Manliness has you covered!

Podcast Description: “The Art of Manliness Podcast aims to deepen and improve every area of a man’s life, from fitness and philosophy, to relationships and productivity. Engaging and edifying interviews with some of the world’s most interesting doers and thinkers drop the fluff and filler to glean guests’ very best, potentially life-changing, insights.”

Mike speaks from a place that is familiar with a lot of men…he grew up without a father figure at home. Luckily, he had quite a few men who invested in him and showed him what it means to be a man of character, integrity, and hard work. He is a Christian man and a large part of his content flows from his faith in our Heavenly Father. If you are wanting to be a better father, son, brother, or man in society…listen to the Wolf and Iron podcast.

Podcast Description: “There is a High Call on the life of a man. Wolf & Iron helps men to heed that calling through interviews with exceptional men and personal insights.”

Biking (Bikepacking) Podcasts

Kathy Murphy is as real as they get! She’s sweet, and bubbly, and brings a breath of fresh air to the backpacking and bike culture scene. Her years worth of experience on the back of a mountain bike allows her to spread wisdom and knowledge to up-and-coming bikepackers like myself.

Podcast Description: “The podcast about biking experiences from bicyclists who have pedaled to amazing places within the United States. Each week we will get to know new people and explore great destinations to ride your bike. As you listen to the great adventures cyclists share you may wonder, why haven’t I done that yet?”

Chris has been biking across different continents for years. I love his first-hand accounts of the trails and routes he rides. It brings bikepacking/offroad biking to life. I also love that he’s a teacher. As I’m in the beginning stages of biking, his podcast has been an inspiration. Although he’s based in Canada…his wealth of knowledge extends beyond the Northern Borders.

Podcast Description: “I am a traveler, cyclist, expat and teacher with over 15 years experience living abroad in six different countries. As a passionate cyclist I have seen the world by bike and has toured in some truly amazing places, such as Sweden, Germany, Japan, most of SE Asia and of course Canada.”

Brian, Joey, and Jess are a hoot! I love hearing their descriptions of the trails they bike on a weekly basis. Their in-depth description of offroad biking make me want to bike even more. They are awesome hosts, and a blessing to listen to. Their rides pretty much take place in the “Mid-Atlantic”…but the information you get from their outings is priceless!

Podcast Description: “Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Gravel, Travel & Dirt podcast. We are here to discuss the adventure bike lifestyle – the people, places, and events involving gravel, bikepacking, bike camping, bike touring and trails.”

Quite possibly the funniest man in America…nay…the world! Nate Bargatze is a refreshing, clean, hilarious, down-to-earth comedian who I totally identify with. His stories will leave you rolling on the floor and his folksy whit will take you back to the good old days of comedy and entertainment…back when clean wholesome fun ruled the world.

If you know me at all, you know I’m a huge baseball fan. I love my Cubs…but even more than that, I love the history of baseball. Every year, before baseball season starts, I watch Ken Burn’s Baseball to get me ready for the season. I’m a purist…so I prefer to listen to baseball games rather than watch them (can you say MLB app?). Patrick and Matthew are just as fanatical…if not more. Their dives into the history of the greatest game of all time are the stuff legends are made of…literally. If you love baseball…you’ll love Baseball History 101!

Podcast Description: “Hosted by Patrick DeVault and Matthew Carter, this podcast dives deep into the history of Baseball.”

If you love “Dirty Jobs”…you’ll love Rowe’s “The Way I Heard It” podcast. It brings back the days of Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story”. Rowe’s humor and his attention to detail make the stories come to life. He is actually able to take you to the scene…and the heart of the events that have taken place throughout history. Mike is a quintessential storyteller and an all-around great guy. AND…if you happen to catch an episode that his mom joins in…too funny!

Podcast Description: “In The Way I Heard It, Mike Rowe gives a different take on a variety of topics—from pop culture to politics, history to Hollywood, each mystery is a trueish tale about someone you know, filled with facts that you don’t. Delivered with Mike’s signature blend of charm, wit, and ingenuity, these stories are part of a larger mosaic—full of surprising revelations, sharp observations, and intimate, behind-the-scenes moments drawn from Mike’s own life and career.”

When I was a kid (back in the 70’s), my dad and I used to watch boxing on “The Wide World of Sports”. I fell in love with it. When I was in high school…it was all about Mike Tyson and who he was knocking out this time. Although it’s gotten harder to find good fights (I don’t have cable, dish, or anything fancy like that), Christ Mannix keeps me in the know. His weekly analysis of matches is impeccable. He covers both men’s and women’s boxing…and I love it! He knows his stuff, and his guests are a wealth of information. If you love boxing (can we even be friends if you don’t?), then you gotta subscribe to Chris’ podcast!

Podcast Description: “Chris Mannix will bring fans closer to the sport and its personalities with in-depth conversations with the top names in boxing.”

History Podcasts

The American Revolution podcast is AMAZING!!! I’m a huge history nut…especially as it relates to the founding of the greatest nation in the world. As the powers that be try to strip us of our nation’s history and everything she was founded on…it helps to keep the wisdom and knowledge given to us by our founding Fathers fresh on our minds…this podcast does just that. It’s awesome!

Podcast Description: “American Revolution Podcast explores the events of the American Revolution, from beginning to end. It publishes weekly. Be sure to check out the related blog for access to pictures, maps, and links to more useful information on each week’s episode.”

I love Christmas. Everything about Christmas! The reason for the season…the Christmas cookies…the presents…Santa…and the traditions. I love it all. I celebrate Christmas in July y’all. White Christmas is my favorite movie of all time! I’m a Christmas Nerd! This podcast takes me back to a simpler time when everybody got along and politicians worked for the people…not against them. I’m also a huge history buff, so getting glimpses of a time gone by makes me happy!

Podcast Description: “Behind every Christmas tradition is a story, often a forgotten one. Every year as we put up a tree and pour the eggnog, we’re continuing generations-old narratives, while being mostly unaware of their starting chapters. Join Brian Earl to explore the fascinating stories behind the most wonderful time of the year. It’s equal parts nerdy deep dive and warmhearted celebration. Think: NPR meets Clement Clarke Moore!”
